2025: A breakthrough year for better period access
Egal Pads on a Roll puts individually wrapped pads inside the stall, right next to the toilet paper. After a year of global expansion, major facility partnerships, and industry recognition, the system is helping more organizations make period care a standard restroom amenity—not an afterthought.

By the end of 2025, Pads on a Roll had reached 2,000 schools and expanded across libraries, museums, zoos, parks, airports, stadiums, workplaces, manufacturing facilities, and other shared spaces. Egal products are now sold across the U.S., Canada, the European Union, the U.K., Australia, South Africa, and the UAE.
That growth reflects a practical shift in facility expectations: people increasingly expect period products to be available where they are needed most—inside the restroom stall—and facilities need a solution that is easy to install, stock, and maintain.

A familiar roll-based system reduces operational friction while placing the product exactly where people need it.
The compact dispenser installs in minutes, and rolls can be refilled in under 30 seconds. Facilities can use Egal’s custom dispenser, and the roll format is also compatible with standard toilet paper dispensers.
Each standard roll contains 40 individually wrapped pads. The roll format uses one-fifth the storage space of boxed, vended pads, helping teams reduce bulky inventory and simplify replenishment.
Egal estimates annual product costs at under 10% of a facility’s toilet paper budget. The system avoids the expense and maintenance burden of traditional vending machines while making products available in every stall.
Pads are dispensed discreetly beside the toilet paper, so employees, students, travelers, visitors, and guests do not need to leave the stall or ask someone for help during an unexpected period.
In 2025, Pads on a Roll was named one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2025 and received a FacilitiesNet Vision Award in the Plumbing & Restrooms category. Egal also earned a Gold Stevie for international expansion, a Silver Stevie for Social Change Maker of the Year in Gender, and additional recognition for design, sustainability, and dispensing innovation.
Pads on a Roll was also named a finalist in Fast Company’s 2025 Innovation by Design Awards for young companies—further recognition that a familiar roll-based format can solve a persistent access problem with less operational friction.
Pads on a Roll has been adopted at locations including Denver International Airport, Clinton National Airport, Allianz Stadium in Twickenham, NHS facilities, Pepsi UK, Mondelēz International, universities, museums, libraries, and public attractions.
Egal’s partnership with portable sanitation leader Satellite Industries extends period product access into portable restrooms and other shared facilities. The same compact system can work across permanent buildings, temporary sites, events, and outdoor workplaces.
“Having sanitary products available for free is amazing in itself, but having them in the stall makes you feel even more discreet about it and you don’t have to worry about a surprise accident.”
The question is no longer whether period products belong in shared restrooms. It is how to provide them in a way that works for both the people using the facility and the teams responsible for operating it.
